BNSF Railway Co. has landed on Computerworld magazine's annual list of the top workplaces for information technology (IT) professionals — the only railroad ranked in this year's poll.
The Class I placed 17th among large companies in the publication's "Best Places to Work in IT" survey. Overall, BNSF ranked 35th, up four places from last year's list.
"Our railroad is at the forefront of the transportation technology revolution, and we need the best people we can find, said Jo-ann Olsovsky, BNSF vice president of technology services and chief information officer, in a prepared statement. "As such, BNSF offers a comprehensive employment package for IT professionals designed to allow them to advance with the technology and grow with the company."
Computerworld has ranked the top 100 workplaces for IT professionals since 1994. The rankings are based on the results of a questionnaire covering benefits, diversity, career development, training and retention, and a survey of more than 31,000 IT workers.
