Last week, BNSF Railway Co. received the 2006 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve’s (ESGR) national committee.
One of 15 companies chosen from more than 5,000 nominations, BNSF obtained the honor for supporting the U.S. National Guard and Reserves.
“BNSF recognizes the commitment and talent associated with U.S. military service, and recognizes the values and sacrifices by those employees called to active duty,” said BNSF Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer John Lanigan — who retired from the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve in 1997 after more than 20 years of active and reserve duty — in a prepared statement.
