BNSF regains Chrysler business
advertisement
It's taken seven years, but BNSF Railway Co. is transporting Chrysler automobiles again. On Feb. 1, the Class I struck a deal with the automaker under which the railroad will move about 120,000 vehicles annually.
BNSF and service partner Ramp Management will load new Chrysler vehicles in St. Louis and Chicago, and unload automobiles in Portland, Ore., Laurel, Mont., and Seattle and Spokane, Wash., for distribution to Pacific Northwest dealerships. Some vehicles loaded in St. Louis will be interchanged to East Coast railroads using the Chicago gateway. Chrysler operates assembly plants in St. Louis and Rockford, Ill.
