Burlington Northern Santa Fe recently launched Health Matters, a Web-based application providing employees in-depth information on nutrition, exercise and weight loss, and featuring interactive resources and self quizzes.
"We believe that the health of our employees has an impact on our efficiency, safety and effectiveness in achieving our company’s vision," said Gloria Zamora, BNSF vice president of human resources and medical, in a prepared statement, adding that the application is designed to help employees make better decisions about diet, exercise and other lifestyle issues.
The railroad offers Health Matters on both its Intranet and Internet sites to enable employees to obtain confidential health information at work or home.
As part of an ongoing health-promotion program, BNSF also plans in the near future to offer workers periodic health tips on its Intranet, and monthly health and safety bulletins on Health Matters.
