Burlington Northern Santa Fe recently contracted OmniTRAX Inc. subsidiary Quality Terminal Services (QTS) to operate the intermodal facility at BNSF Logistics Park — Chicago, which the Class I officially opened Oct. 14.
QTS will manage rail-car loading and unloading, inspect check-points, maintain lift equipment and administer the 621-acre facility. The company also will oversee about 140 employees during the first two years of operation at the terminal, which initially is expected to complete 400,000 lifts, then handle 550,000 lifts in three years.
Logistics Park — Chicago is the fourth BNSF terminal QTS now manages, joining facilities in Alliance, Texas, Cicero, Ill., and Oakland, Calif.
