BNSF sets one-day vehicle-processing record at Texas terminal

On April 18, Burlington Northern Santa Fe's Alliance Automotive Facility set a new unloading record by processing 885 vehicles, surpassing the old one-day mark set in first-quarter 2002 by about 200 units.

American Honda Motor Co. and Hyundai Motor America produce a majority of the vehicles processed at the Alliance, Texas, facility. Last year, Hyundai opened an inland-processing center attached to BNSF's facility.

"Because of the increased demand of Hondas and Hyundais in the American marketplace, BNSF is experiencing an increase in the number of vehicles coming into our Alliance facility" said Dan Meyers, BNSF director of automotive facilities, in a prepared statement. "This increase requires BNSF to step up its productivity in order to continue to meet our customers' needs."
