BNSF, short lines form caucus

BNSF Railway Co., the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association, and 14 short-line holding companies and small railroads recently partnered to form the BNSF Short Line Caucus.
Expected to meet at least twice annually, the caucus aims to improve two-way communication between BNSF and its connecting short lines; work jointly to address and solve problems facing both BNSF and the short lines; share ideas regarding best practices between short lines and Class Is; and develop opportunities to attract new business to rail through information exchanges and joint efforts.
Regional and short-line members of the caucus include the Arkansas & Missouri Railroad; Brownsville & Rio Grande International Railroad; Fort Worth & Western Railroad; Iowa Interstate Railroad Ltd.; Northern Lines; OmniTRAX Inc.; Patriot Rail Corp.; Portland & Western Railroad; RailAmerica Inc.; Red River Valley & Western Railroad; R.J. Corman Railroad Group; Southern Railway of British Columbia Ltd.; Watco Cos. Inc.; and Western Group.
