BNSF Railway Co. recently promoted Bob Lease to regional vice president of central operations to succeed Mark Kotter, who plans to retire at year’s end.

The railroad also promoted Dave Freeman to VP of north operations to succeed Steve Goodall, who recently completed a developmental transportation assignment and returned to the engineering department as assistant VP and chief engineer for the south operations region.

In addition, BNSF named Rob Reilly general manager of the Chicago Division to succeed Lease and Dick Ebel, general manager of the Los Angeles Division to succeed Reilly. A successor to Ebel — who most recently served as AVP of service design — will be named later.

Finally, BNSF announced Regional VP of South Operations Chris Roberts will oversee the Gulf and Texas divisions so central operations managers can focus solely on coal transportation issues.
