On Aug. 22, Burlington Northern Santa Fe received a Corporate Horizon Award from Metroplex Technology Business Council as part of the council's annual Tech Titans awards.

The Corporate Horizon Award recognizes a recent or potential breakthrough technology or technological approach in the technology and communications industry.

One of 20 nominees, BNSF received the honor for its data-warehouse project, which tracks every piece of equipment and revenue generated by every equipment move.

The council created the Tech Titan awards to recognize individuals, companies and institutions that help make North Texas a leading "breeding ground" in developing technological ideas and innovations, according to a prepared statement.
