advertisement
Last week, a jury issued a verdict in a wrongful death case requiring BNSF Railway Co. to award $2.8 million to the family of a man killed during an April 2002 California train crash.
The case is the first stemming from the incident under which a BNSF train hit a Metrolink commuter train head on, killing three people and injuring more than 260. Investigators found the BNSF crew didn’t comply with warning signals, according to law firm Nurenberg, Plevin, Heller & McCarthy Co. L.P.A.
