BNSF to separate forms from train-crew hygiene packs

advertisement

Burlington Northern Santa Fe plans April 15 to begin separating forms from train-crew hygiene packs.
Hygiene products, such as toilet paper, paper towels and toilet-seat covers, now will be packaged together. However, BNSF plans to remove lens wipes from hygiene packs because many of the railroad's facilities and yard offices provide the wipes, according to a statement prepared April 12.
BNSF and Union Pacific Railroad recently worked together to standardize hygiene packs — the second such purchasing item to be standardized by Class Is. (The six largest roads last year standardized bottled-water purchases through RailMarketplace.com, the Class Is' supply-chain sourcing site.)
BNSF and other Class Is plan to decrease purchasing costs and reduce paper waste by removing from hygiene packs individual forms, which are used less frequently.
