Next month, BNSF Railway Co. will begin the first of five maintenance-of-way projects in South Dakota to replace 73 track miles.

BNSF crews will conduct track work between Glenham and Morristown; Alpena and Wolsey; Alexandria and Canton; Crooks and Lyons; and Harrisburg and Sioux Falls.

BNSF officials expect to complete the work by September’s end. In all, the five South Dakota projects will cost almost $11 million.
