BNSF's Gallegos joins Hispanic magazine's 'corporate elite'

BNSF Railway Co. Vice President and Corporate General Counsel James Gallegos recently was named a member of HispanicBusiness magazine's 2009 Corporate Elite.
The magazine’s corporate elite list recognizes 25 executives “who have risen to and remained at the top of their professions despite the tumultuous financial climate of 2008,” according to a prepared statement. In 2007, HispanicBusiness honored Gallegos as one of the 100 most influential Hispanics.
Early in his career, Gallegos worked as a marketing analyst for BNSF predecessor Burlington Northern, and later, the Soo Line. After earning a law degree from the University of Minnesota, he held various law-related positions at the U.S. Department of Justice and U.S. West Inc., which later merged with Qwest Communications.
