Yesterday, the National Coal Council Inc. elected Tom Kraemer chairman to succeed Wes Taylor, who completed a two-year term.
Group vice president, coal for Burlington Northern Santa Fe, Kraemer had been serving the council as vice chairman. He was appointed to the council in April 2000 by then Secretary of Energy Bill Richardson, then reappointed in January 2004 by Secretary Spencer Abraham. Kraemer joined BNSF in 1981 and was named group VP in 1999.
The 100-member council was created in 1984 under the Federal Advisory Committee Act to advise the energy secretary on coal issues.
