BNSF Railway Co.’s Los Angeles Division recently announced an organizational alignment designed to create the "most effective and efficient organizational structure in the Los Angeles basin," according to the April 1 edition of "BNSF Today," which is posted on BNSF’s Web site. The idea: to enable the railroad to better serve customers in the “safest and most cost-effective manner now and into the future," said Rob Reilly, general manager, Los Angeles Division.

Now reporting to Reilly is Chuck Potempa, director of Port Operations; he’ll be responsible for the intermodal and transportation product at the Ports of LA and Long Beach, Watson and the Alameda Corridor. Previously, Potempa was director, Pacific Southwest Hubs and Facilities. Also reporting to Reilly is Bob Gomez, terminal superintendent, Los Angeles. Gomez is responsible for intermodal and transportation at Hobart yard.

"With the double-digit increases in volume we continue to see in international freight, this new organizational structure will assist us in taking on the challenge of handling this tremendous growth," Reilly said.
