On Friday, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) released “Atlantic Coast U.S. Seaports,” a fact sheet on major East Coast container ports in New York/New Jersey, Norfolk, Va., Savannah, Ga., and Charleston, S.C.
Considered the largest Atlantic Coast region seaports from Eastport, Mass., through Key West, Fla., the ports are preparing for an expected increase in cargo generated by an expansion of the Panama Canal, which is scheduled for completion in 2014, according to BTS.
The fact sheet is available online at http://www.bts.gov/publications/bts_fact_sheets/.
