The Senate recently confirmed Ann Begeman’s nomination as a Surface Transportation Board (STB) member, according to the United Transportation Union. She succeeds Chip Notthingham, who departed the STB on March 18, and joins Chairman Daniel Elliott III and Commissioner Frank Mulvey on the three-member board.
Begeman, whose STB term expires at 2015’s end, most recently was minority staff director for the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation. She also held several other positions on the committee, including senior professional staff member and deputy staff director. During her committee tenure, Begeman advised members on various surface transportation issues, including rail, motor carrier and pipeline safety matters.
She previously was legislative director for Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) from 2004 to 2009, and a legislative aide to Sen. Larry Pressler (R-S.D.) from 1988 to 1992.
