Bombardier Transportation recently delivered the 1,000th Bombardier-built metro car to China. The car builder marked the milestone during a ceremony held Tuesday in conjunction with the 2006 Metro and Light Train exhibition in Guangzhou.

The 1,000th vehicle is a MOVIA metro car built by a joint venture between Bombardier and Changchun Railway Vehicles Ltd. One of 48 MOVIA vehicles being built for the Guangzhou Metro Corp., the car will operate on Line 2 of the agency’s metro system.

The other 999 cars currently are in service with multiple operators in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shanghai and Hong Kong.
