The Brussels transport authority recently awarded Bombardier Transportation an additional order for 22 bi-directional FLEXITY Outlook trams. Part of a five-year contract signed in 2003, the $64 million order includes provisions under which Bombardier will maintain the trams’ bogies and propulsion equipment for 15 years, and provide spare parts for 10 years.

Bombardier now will build a total of 68 FLEXITY Outlook vehicles — featuring the company’s MITRAC propulsion system — for the authority. Delivery is expected between May 2007 and March 2008.

Bombardier will build the trams at its Bruges, Belgium, plant and manufacture bogies at its Siegen, Germany, facility.
