Malaysia’s Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad (SPNB) recently awarded a $210 million contract to Bombardier Transportation and partner Hartasuma Sdn Bhd to supply 88 advanced rapid transit MKII cars. The agency plans to use the cars on the Kelana Jaya Line in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The cars will be delivered between September 2008 and June 2010. The contract includes an option for an additional 52 cars.

Built by a Bombardier-led consortium, SPNB’s fully automated, driverless system has been in operation since 1998.
