Bombardier Transportation and its Chinese joint venture partners, Changchun Bombardier Railway Vehicles Co. Ltd. and Bombardier CPC Propulsion System Co. Ltd., recently obtained a $204 million contract to supply 192 MOVIA metro cars for the Shanghai Mass Transit Line 7 Development Co., a subsidiary of Shanghai Shentong Metro Group Co.

To be delivered between second-quarter 2008 and 2009’s end, the cars will operate on Shanghai’s Metro Line 7.

Bombardier also obtained a $115 million contract to supply 48 Electrostar cars for the United Kingdom’s Southern Railway and Porterbrook Leasing Ltd. The cars are scheduled to be delivered by January 2009. Three U.K. rail operators currently have more than 1,600 Electrostar vehicles currently in service, and Transport for London ordered Electrostars last year.
