The Greater Vancouver Transportation Authority (TransLink) recently awarded a $99 million contract to Bombardier Transportation to supply 34 Advanced Rapid Transit (ART) MKII vehicles for the agency’s SkyTrain driverless light-rail system.
The vehicles will expand TransLink’s fleet to accommodate growing ridership. The agency currently operates 150 ART MKI and 60 ART MKII vehicles on its 30-mile line.
The contract includes options for up to 38 additional vehicles. If all options are exercised, the contract could total $191 million.
