Germany’s Deutsche Bahn recently ordered an additional 42 double-deck coaches from Bombardier Transportation for $73 million.
Scheduled to be delivered in second-half 2008, the 30 trailer and 12 cab cars are an add-on to a 2003 Deutsch Bahn contract for 298 double-deck coaches. In 2005, the transit agency exercised an option for another 49 vehicles.
The cars will feature visual and acoustic warning systems, and exterior loudspeakers.
