Today, Bombardier Transportation announced it plans to close its Auburn, N.Y., production facility by the end of May.
The facility — which produces a range of components for Bombardier rail and aerospace products — employs about 160 people. The company does not have the workload necessary to keep the facility open, Bombardier said.
Company officials recently completed discussions with union leaders regarding workers affected by the closing and other issues, including incentive packages, employee benefits and the shut-down process.
