Bombardier Transportation recently received a $43 million contract from Italian railway Trenitalia to upgrade 60 ETR 500 electric power heads.

Bombardier will supply material and equipment to rehabilitate the power heads, and upgrade the power heads’ electrical and mechanical systems. The railway will couple the power heads to standard intercity coaches.

Bombardier will modify two power heads and deliver them in July 2006, then supply material and equipment by February 2007.
