Bombardier to manufacture 47 FLEXITY trams for German transit authority

Germany’s Dortmunder Stadtwerke AG recently ordered 47 FLEXITY Classic trams from Bombardier Transportation and retained an option for five additional vehicles.
Under the $85 million contract, Bombardier will manufacture and deliver the trams’ mechanical parts between October 2007 and August 2010. The trams’ electrical equipment will be supplied by Vossloh Kiepe GmbH.
Designed to carry up to 178 passengers, the 98-foot vehicles will feature air conditioning and video surveillance systems.
