The United Kingdom’s First Great Western recently awarded Bombardier Transportation two contracts to upgrade the passenger railroad’s car fleet.
Bombardier obtained a $100 million contract to renovate 405 high-speed train trailer cars used on the agency’s line between London, Bristol, South Wales, the Cotswolds and West of England. The car builder will begin refurbishing the vehicles in November and deliver cars by 2007’s end.
Bombardier also received a $160 million contract to overhaul high-speed train bogies and provide technical expertise for up to 10 years.
