Spanish national railway Renfe recently selected Bombardier Transportation to supply 100 TRAXX F140 DC locomotives. Soon, the parties expect to sign a $535.4 million contract, which includes a 14-year maintenance agreement.
Featuring Bombardier’s MITRAC propulsion and control technology, the locomotives are designed to haul freight at speeds up to 87 mph.
The locomotives are scheduled to be delivered between second-half 2008 and 2010.
