Germany’s Frankfurt Transport Authority VGF (Verkehrsgesellschaft Frankfurt am Main) recently awarded a $361 million contract to Bombardier Transportation to supply 146 FLEXITY Swift light-rail vehicles.
The vehicles’ design concept is based on Bombardier’s FLEXITY Classic trams, which have been operating in revenue service in Frankfurt since October 2003. The high-floor, bi-directional vehicles can carry 184 passengers.
Bombardier expects to deliver the vehicles between mid-2008 and mid-2015. The contract includes an option for up to 24 additional vehicles.
