Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
Last week, Germany’s Deutsche Bahn AG announced it will award a $1.6 billion contract to Bombardier Transportation to supply 321 TALENT 2 trains for regional passenger-rail lines.
The electrical multiple units can be configured to create two- to six-car trains, which can operate on different voltage systems and accommodate different platform levels. In addition, Deutsche Bahn will choose the number of toilets and doors included on the vehicles, and select the number and arrangement of seats.
The vehicles are scheduled to be deployed beginning in 2009.
