Bombardier Transportation recently received an $86.9 million order from Germany's Rhine-Main transport group to provide 22 ITINO diesel multiple unit (DMU) trainsets, which will be used on the Odenwaldbahn regional line.

Scheduled for delivery in summer 2005, the two-car trains are expected to significantly reduce transit times between Odenwald, and Darmstadt, Hanau and Frankfurt/Main, according to a prepared statement. The DMUs are designed to reach speeds up to 87 mph.

The trains include GPS-supported passenger information systems to provide state-of-the-art communications, as well as video surveillance and an unrestricted view.

Bombardier will assemble the trains at its Hennigsdorf, Germany, facility.
