Transport for London recently exercised an option on an August 2006 contract to purchase an additional 36 ELECTROSTAR electric multiple unit cars from Bombardier Transportation.

The $72 million add-on contract also includes the first seven-and-a-half years of a train services agreement for the new vehicles, which will run on the East London and North London railways. Bombardier will begin delivering the latest round of ELECTROSTAR vehicles in March 2009, after it completes delivery of the first 152 vehicles Transport for London ordered.

Transport for London oversees operations of several transit services, including London Underground and the Docklands Light Railway.
