Bombardier/Alstom consortium to supply trains to Swiss railway

advertisement

Swiss railway operator BLS AG recently awarded a $74 million contract to a Bombardier Transportation/Alstom Transport consortium to supply 13 RABe 525 multiple-unit trains for the Regio-Express lines. If the agency exercises an option for 20 additional vehicles, the contract would be worth $182 million.

Under its $49 million share of the contract, Bombardier will build the four-car trains, which will feature large windows, luggage space and ski racks. Alstom will supply traction equipment and passenger information systems.

The vehicles are scheduled to be delivered in 2008.
