Bombardier Transportation and local partner Hartasuma Sdn Bhd recently received an additional order for 52 Advanced Rapid Transit MK II cars from the Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad for operation on the Kelana Jaya Line in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

An option in a contract for 140 MK II cars the consortium won last year, the recent order is valued at $100 million; Bombardier's share is $69 million.

The cars will be manufactured at Bombardier's North American production facilities, with final assembly in Malaysia through Hartasuma Sdn Bhd. Delivery of the first cars is expected in 2010.

Built by a Bombardier-led consortium, the fully automated, driverless 18-mile Kelana Jaya Line links western and eastern suburbs to Kuala Lumpur’s downtown. The line currently uses 70 Bombardier-built ART MK II vehicles.
