Boston-area Amtrak conductors ratify new labor pact
advertisement
After eight years of negotiations, Amtrak conductors and assistant conductors represented by the United Transportation Union’s General Committee of Adjustment 663 in Boston ratified an agreement with the national intercity passenger railroad by a 123-76 vote on Saturday.
The contract is identical to the one that members of the General Committee of Adjustment 769 in Philadelphia voted 910-170 in favor of last week. Retroactive to Jan. 1, 2000, and extending through Dec. 31, 2009, the pact mirrors a settlement Amtrak reached with its other labor unions. The contract includes retroactive pay and additional general wage increases and no work-rule changes, and saves 400 assistant engineer positions that Amtrak had proposed eliminating.
