Brookville Equipment expands Pennsylvania production plant

Brookville Equipment Corp.'s locomotive production plant is about one-quarter larger. Last month, the company officially opened a 24,000-square-foot addition to the Brookville, Pa., facility.

Brookville Equipment expanded the plant to meet growing demand for the company's locomotives, including low-height underground mining locomotives and 135-ton, 2,000-horsepower switchers.

The company also anticipates increasing orders for its new CoGeneration™ locomotive, a three-engine, 2,100-horsepower switcher that can meet Tier II and "ultra-clean" air emission standards. The CoGeneration locomotive features traction alternators and a brake system designed to regenerate power to drive components.
