On June 1, Transportation-Communications International Union's (TCU) Brotherhood of Railway Carmen Division (BRC) named Steven Wilhelm senior assistant local chairman for Fort Wayne Lodge 6760. Wilhelm also will continue to serve as local protective committee secretary.
Since beginning his rail career with Norfolk Southern Railway in 1993, Wilhelm has been interested in union causes. He was appointed local protective committee secretaryin 1997, and elected recording secretary in 1999.
In April 2003, he was named acting local chairman to fill in for Local Chairman Steven Pequignot, who requested a leave of absence.
"As a result of the professionalism Wilhelm displayed while acting as local
chairman, and due to the local protective committee being understaffed, he will now assume the office of senior assistant local chairman," said Pequignot in a prepared statement.
Per TCU's constitution, union members will vote on Wilhelm's promotion at the lodge's June 11 meeting.
