A vast majority of Buffalo & Pittsburgh Railroad workers have ratified a United Transportation Union (UTU) agreement. Covering conductors, engineers and trainmen, the contract expires on July 1, 2010.
Ninety-five percent of the 74 eligible voters cast ballots and 97 percent approved the pact, the UTU said.
The contract calls for wage increases and retroactive pay, and health-care benefit improvements.
Owned by Genesee & Wyoming Inc., the 411-mile Buffalo & Pittsburgh operates former Baltimore & Ohio Railroad track.
