Burke-Parsons-Bowlby Corp. (BPB) recently began building a wood treating plant in Fulton, Ky. Designed to produce creosote- and borate/creosote-treated crossties and timbers, the facility is scheduled to be completed in spring 2007.

The company is constructing the plant to meet the requirements of a crosstie supply contract with Canadian National Railway Co. The facility also will enable BPB to offer borate/creosote crossties to users in high-decay areas south of Kentucky.

Founded in 1955, BPB currently operates wood treating plants in Stanton, Ky.; Dubois, Pa.; Goshen, Va.; and Spencer, W.Va. The company also holds a minority interest in a Yumbel, Chile, plant.
