advertisement
President Bush recently nominated Ellen Engleman as chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board, according to an Association of American Railroads statement.
Since September 2001, Engleman has served as administrator of U.S. Department of Transportation's Research and Special Programs Administration.
NTSB, which investigates major accidents involving trains, planes, boats, trucks and pipelines, has not had a chairman since Marion Blakey left in September to head the Federal Aviation Administration.
Engleman's nomination heads to the Senate for confirmation hearings.
