On Friday, President Bush announced he intends to nominate Francis Mulvey for an additional five-year term as a Surface Transportation Board (STB) member. The term would expire on Dec. 31, 2012.

Since he joined the STB in June 2004, Mulvey has served stints as vice chairman and one of the board's three commissioners. Prior to joining the STB, he was a Democratic staff director for the U.S. House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure's Railroad Subcommittee, and deputy assistant inspector general for rail, transit and special programs for the U.S. Department of Transportation. Mulvey also taught courses at a number of universities, including the University of Maryland's R. H. Smith School of Business and Public Administration.
