On Nov. 7, Canadian National Railway Co. announced it reached a tentative agreement with 600 United Transportation Union-represented workers on the Class I's Illinois Central Railroad properties in the United States.

The contract would establish hourly wages for conductors and brakemen, and revise their work rules and agreements in exchange for guaranteed time off and job security.

The agreement, which would take effect Jan. 1, is subject to ratification.
