CN reaches mitigation agreement with Barrington Hills

CN recently reached a voluntary mitigation agreement with the village of Barrington Hills, Ill., concerning the Elgin, Joliet and Eastern Railway Co. (EJ&E) acquisition. The pact addresses the municipality's environmental and safety concerns.
Under the agreement, CN will provide funding for various measures in Barrington Hills, including maintenance of an existing quiet zone, operations mitigation, emergency response training and safety initiatives.
CN now has reached voluntary mitigation agreements with 22 of the 33 communities situated on the EJ&E line in Illinois and Indiana.
