Canadian Pacific and the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference-Maintenance of Way Employees Division (TCRC-MWED) recently reached a tentative three-year agreement.

The Class I and union declined to release details until the agreement is ratified. TCRC-MWED plans to immediately send ratification materials to members.

Meanwhile, the United Kingdom’s Network Rail and National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) continue to hold talks about the railroad’s plan to eliminate 1,500 maintenance jobs and change work practices so more MOW projects can be done during evenings and on weekends. The two sides plan to meet today to further discuss the proposal.

In addition, RMT initiated a 72-hour work stoppage today at ScotRail to protest the implementation of driver-only operation on the Airdrie-Bathgate line in Scotland. On Thursday, union members plan to lobby the Scottish parliament to demand government action on safety concerns surrounding both Network Rail’s and ScotRail’s proposed operational changes, according to RMT.
