CPR sells Outremont Yard to Montreal university

Yesterday, Canadian Pacific Railway and the Université de Montréal announced the college will acquire the railroad's Outremont Yard in Montreal.

For the first time since 1892, CPR's yard will change vocation and be used by the Montreal community. Located near the university's campus, the yard will enable the 126-year-old college to co-locate its hospital complex, research facilities and health sciences department.

During the next few months, CPR and Québec-Gatineau Railway will relocate yard operations to a similar site in Montreal. CPR will continue to operate commuter-rail service for the Agence Métropolitaine de Transport between Montreal and Blainville, Quebec, and provide service to the Port of Montreal.

CPR plans to reorganize some Montreal facilities to optimize operations in the area and ensure continuity during the transition period.
