advertisement
Canadian Pacific Railway Aug. 28 received DaimlerChrysler Corp.'s Gold Award in a category that recognizes quality day-to-day parts and vehicles delivery, and a transportation provider's commitment to create value and reduce costs for the automaker.
CPR — the exclusive rail service provider to DaimlerChrysler's Brampton and Windsor, Ontario, assembly plants — last year boosted its service for the automaker, achieving 95 percent on-time delivery of inbound parts, improving on-time finished-vehicles delivery by 7 percent, and reducing average transit times.
The Class I's service also helped DaimlerChrysler successfully launch an advanced distribution center in Cottage Grove, Minn., while CPR's Expressway service helped speed inbound parts moves to the Brampton plant.
Union Pacific Railroad — CPR's interline service partner — July 20 earned its second consecutive DaimlerChrysler Gold Award in a logistics category that recognizes outstanding service performance and logistics excellence.
