CSXI adds I-95 Corridor to simplified pricing service
advertisement
CSX Intermodal July 5 expanded its "Zip Code" pricing service to Interstate 95 Corridor customers between Florida and the northeast.
CSXI May 30 began offering Zip Code pricing — a formula that multiplies highway miles between origin and destination zip codes by a cents-per-mile rate — to customers between the Ohio Valley and Florida.
"This new effort is part of our planned expansion of the Zip Code program into other areas of the country," said Pete Ruski, CSXI vice president-planning, in a prepared statement. " By offering the cents-per-mile pricing along with door-to-door service, CSXI will have the ability to compete with and win business from traffic now moving over the road."
In terms of service reliability, CSXI's Baltimore-to-Jacksonville, Fla., moves currently average 28.5 hours and an on-time arrival rate of 92 percent, while South Kearney, N.J.-to-Jacksonville moves average 34.5 hours and a 96 percent on-time rate, said CSXI President Clarence Gooden.
