CSXI's December fuel surcharge to match November's 3.6 percent

advertisement

After declining in October, CSX Intermodal’s fuel surcharge increased to 3.6 percent in November – and that’s where it will remain in December based on the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) price index. CSXI previously applied fuel surcharges of 3 percent, 3.7 percent and 3.1 percent in October, September and August, respectively.

CSXI adjusts its monthly surcharge the first Monday of each month based on the difference between the DOE’s price index the previous Monday (in this case, Nov. 24) and $1.10. CSXI calculates the percent difference between the DOE's "Retail Diesel Fuel Price Index" and $1.10, multiplies the figure by 10 percent and then again by 100.

The 3.6 percent surcharge applies to CSXI's ramp-to-ramp, ramp-to-door, door-to-ramp and door-to-door rates. The drayage-only fuel surcharge Dec. 1-7 will be 4 percent.
