CSXT, GATX tie service, equipment together in Redi-Rail package

CSX Transportation and GATX Rail July 18 launched Redi-Rail(SM), a program designed to offer liquid- and dry-petroleum and chemical product shippers a flexible fleet of tank and hopper cars, and variety of transportation services.
Under the program, GATX would provide shippers immediate car availability and CSXT, transportation rates and service packages.
"Many companies ship by truck because they never had the time to research and understand rail shipping, "said Dan Penovich, GATX vice president-sales, in a prepared statement, adding that Redi-Rail's single equipment and transportation package can offer those shippers savings.
CSXT and GATX officials also believe frequent rail shippers would benefit from Redi-Rail by having the ability to quickly obtain extra cars during bottlenecks or unexpected events.
