CSXT offers real-time interline prices on the Internet

As part of the joint Class I "A+B Pricing" initiative, CSX Transportation now is providing interline prices for many general merchandise carload moves on its Web site, www.csx.com, and secure transaction site ShipCSX.

Originating on CSXT and some of its short-line partners, the moves include shipments terminating on Canadian National Railway Co. and Burlington Northern Santa Fe. During the next few months, CSXT plans to add destinations on Norfolk Southern Railway, Union Pacific Railroad and Canadian Pacific Railway.

The online application prompts shippers to enter interline shipment criteria. A rate is calculated by combining each railroad's established price for its portion of the move. If a shipper accepts the price, the rate is valid for up to one year.

During the past two years, CSXT and CN jointly developed A+B Pricing to provide online rate quotes in real time and eliminate delays in responding to interline price inquiries.
